en bron van inspiratie. In het Christendom en Islam wordt ze erkend als de moeder van Jezus. In deze fotogalerij willen we

Een toelichting van Toon:

De beelden spreken voor zich en alle muziek die je hoort is authentiek uit Laos.

Het begint met het nationaal instrument van Laos: de khen (of khaen, e.a. …), een soort mondorgel uit bamboe.

Daarna hoor je een set bamboebuizen van verschillende lengte waar de vrouwen vlak bij (en op) de opening van de buis in de handen klappen.

Gongs zoals in het volgende stukje hoor je bij elke (sjamaan)-ceremonie.
De gongs uit het laatste stukje worden begeleid door een gespleten bamboe waarmee men op de vloer slaat.

Er is gesnerp en gepiep te horen tijdens het stuk waar de Khapor, de hoofdsjamaan van het dorp, bamboe snijdt voor een kruisboog.
Dit geluid komt uit zijn radiootje (in de plastiek draagtas) waar hij het dagelijks half uurtje voor de Hmong sjamanen tracht te volgen.

Op het einde hoor je een stukje met een snaarinstrument, een soort harp, gemaakt uit een bamboebuis.
De snaren zijn gedeeltelijk losgemaakte bast van die bamboebuis. Goed verglijkbaar met de valiha uit Madagaskar.

Fin de la première session de notre synode diocésain ce samedi 17 mars 2012

La seconde session sera organisée au mois de mai.

Les Frères Victor Kazadi, François Musongo, François Kilonda et Vital Mwenge étaient invités
et ont pris part aux assises qui se sont penchées sur le bilan de différents secteurs
de la vie de l'Eglise-Famille de Dieu de Lubumbashi.
La seconde session posera, en termes de perspectives, les bases d'une nouvelle dynamique pastorale pour notre Archidiocèse.

Le Frère Vital, membre du secrétariat Général et du Comité Centra de préparation de ce Synode,
continuera à travailler dans la phase intersynodale.

Brothers Harry Eccles, Michael McCarthy and William Griffin with orphans in Haiti.

Brother Michael McCarthy who lives in Hinche, Haiti with some of the people of a neighboring community,
who with the support of the Xaverian Brothers,
accepted 500 victims from Port au Prince following last January’s earthquake.

In other Haiti news, children in the Maison Fortune’ Orphanage in Hinche have begun to publish a newspaper for the orphanage.

Their first article of this “newspaper” includes interviews with Brothers Harry Eccles and Michael McCarthy:

ACTIVITIES

Cultural activities have always played an important rule in our society.
These activities prepare the citizens to enter into society as balanced persons, developed in mind, body and spirit.
For example the church helps people learn about God and become aware of others in society;
artists give us beautiful things to look at and listen to; athletics help us prepare our bodies and learn how to work together as a team.
All these activities allow our children to function without difficulties in our culture.

All our activities in the orphanage are managed by the Activities’ Director.
It is his job to plan every activity, like sports, music, television, etc. (Brother Michael is responsible for the Sunday service each week.)
There is a choir that helps us sing and pray each Sunday; we have chess tournaments that help us develop our brain.
We also encourage people in the orphanage to plant a garden, to help clean their rooms and the kitchen, and to keep the environment clean.

	Our four houses at Xaverian Centre, Nairobi, are named after 4 African Catholic heroes, the late Cardinal Maurice Otunga, originally of Bungoma; Julius Nyerere, late president of Tanzania; Blessed Anuarite, a Congolese sister martyred in 1964, beatified in 1985; and St. Josephine Bakhita, a Sudanese-Italian nun canonized in 2000. My room is the one on the right which opens onto the balcony., which I share with Br. Placide, in the Otunga House, Rear 1 picture. Lots of closet space, drawers & bookshelves. In the Google Earth image, note our circular hedge. The property to the right belongs to the Irish Christian Brothers, who sold us half of their former five acres. The houses have been clustered to allow for the open area in front. The property extends to the road. *David*
